The CardScanner is a service of CAS Software AG which is used for scanning and analyzing business cards. Subsequently, the data from the business card can be saved in the address book of your mobile device or transferred to SmartWe, CAS PIA, or your CAS genesisWorld.

Installing the app

When downloading the app, the information necessary for downloading is transmitted to the app store you have selected. You can learn which information is transmitted in the terms of use of the respective Apple and Google app stores. We do not control and are not responsible for this data collection.

We do not further process or save the data that is collected.

 

Required permissions

If in use, the app requires the following permissions solely for the following purposes:

  • Network connection
    To use the service, the CAS CardScanner requires access to the servers of CAS Software AG via the network connection
  • Address book
    To save the business card as a contact in your address book
  • Device ID and call information
    Are used for anonymous statistics in the app stores

Optionally, the app requires the following permissions:

  • Camera
    To be able to upload photos of scanned business cards

If you decline the optional permissions, you cannot use the corresponding functions of the app. You can grant or decline the permissions in the settings later on. If you permit access to those data and functions, the CardScanner will only access the data if it is necessary for executing those functions.

 

Required data for using the app

No registration data is necessary to use the CardScanner.

 

Personal data

To analyze the business card, a photo of the business card is transmitted to the CAS Software AG servers. The extracted data is transferred back to the CardScanner. After completion of the transmission, the data are immediately and automatically deleted from the servers of CAS Software AG.
If you use the CardScanner for business purposes, we hereby inform you that your organization must enter into a contract concerning contract data processing with CAS Software AG.
Your data are processed on a server located in Germany and the processing fully complies with the policies of the SOFTWARE HOSTED IN GERMANY® seal.

Data transmission to third parties

Your entered data remains with you. You decide whether the data is transferred to third parties.

 

Feedback functions

The CardScanner is not equipped with feedback functions. No data on usage or error reports is transmitted to CAS Software AG.

 

Your rights

In principle, you are entitled to the following rights:

  • Right to information on the personal data relevant to you according to article 15 of the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation)
  • Right of rectification according to article 16 of the GDPR
  • Right of deletion according to article 17 of the GDPR
  • Right to processing restriction according to article 18 of the GDPR
  • Right of objection according to article 21 of the GDPR
  • Right to data portability according to article 20 of the GDPR

The app is not used for profiling or scoring measures in compliance with article 22 of the GDPR.
